Information: A great event for the whole family - as well as the more serious runner. Short courses for families, long courses for people who want a challenge. Register in the car park at Hockley Woods between 10.30 and 12, and then navigate your way with the map around the woods, finding the controls in the right order. Great fun - and the kids will love it.

Golf Day

Information: We are looking for teams of golfers to tee-off to help raise money for the new Children’s A&E at Basildon University Hospital. Money raised will go towards additional equipment, play materials and kit for a multi-sensory room, in Children’s A&E, which is part of the new £17 million development of our A&E Department and Fracture Clinic. The £50 per person entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, a full English breakfast and a four course evening meal, plus a charity auction and fun games. Information: What better way is there to celebrate Harvest-time than to enjoy the sound of a live Folk Band and join in a range of well-known Barn Dances? Well, St Mary’s church folk are organising such an evening for Saturday October 2nd (7.00pm for 7.30pm) in the Foakes Hall. The music will be provided by the Most Unexpected Band, and there will be a Licensed Bar and a Raffle. Tickets, including a Ploughman’s Supper, cost £10 per adult, £5 for under-16s, with under-3s free – or a Family Ticket [2 adults & 2 children] costs £25.
